Mary-Louise Parker was born on 2 August 1964 in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, U.S.A. She is the daughter of a judge and her father also served in the US Army. Her mother is Swedish. She studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and majored in drama.
She gave birth to one child from Billy Crudup, who had a relationship with her for at least eight years. The relationship broke, when Mary-Louise Parker was seven months pregnant and Billy Curdup started dating another actress Claire Danes. She also adopted a daughter in 2007. She was engaged to Jeffrey Dean Morgan on 12 February 2008 but broke her engagement in April of the same year.
She started her acting career from the soap opera ‘Ryan’s Hope’. She performed for a Broadway production of ‘Prelude to a Kiss’ for the first time in 1990. She played the role of “Rita” in this play, for which she won the Clarence Derwent Award, and was nominated for the Tony Award. She has performed in some more plays like ‘Bus Stop’, ‘Hedda Gabler’, ‘Reckless‘ and ‘Proof’. She has won the Tony Award for her performance in ‘Proof‘, and she was nominated for it for her role in ‘Reckless‘.
She also appeared in the movie adaptation of the Lucas play ‘Longtime Companion’, which was perhaps the first movie to speak on AIDS. Then she appeared in the films ‘Grand Canyon‘ and ‘Fried Green Tomatoes’.
